چکیده
Aim of the study: Forest fuel classification and characterization is a critical factor in wildfire management. The main purpose this study was to develop custom models for accurately mapping spread compared standard models. Area conducted at replanted forest dominated by coniferous species, Arabdagh region, Golestan Province, northern Iran. Material methods: Six were developed characterize vegetation types area. Fuel samples collected from 49 randomly selected plots. In each plot, load 1-hr, 10-hr, 100-hr, 1000-hr, live herbs, woody plants, surface area volume ratio, depth estimated using Load (FL) sampling method along three transects. Canopy calculated model. performance versus on behavior simulations FlamMap MTT simulator. Main results: results showed that, despite similarity burned between observed modeled fires, produced an increase simulation accuracy. Compared fire, did not give realistic crown fire. result while moderate rate fire with Kappa coefficient 0.54. Research highlights: demonstrated importance developing simulate maps higher accuracy risk

The Carbon Conundrum — Fire and Fuel Management in Fire-prone Forests
Natural resource managers face a conundrum: when do fire management activities increase sources or sinks of greenhouse gases? This extension note describes forest carbon (C) dynamics and approaches for dealing with carbon stocks and flows while managing for fire and a full range of natural resource values. In addressing climate change, we need to understand the relationships between fire manage...
متن کاملPresettlement forests and fire in southern Alabama
Although the loss of Pinus palustris P. Mill. (longleaf pine) dominated communities and the alteration of the presettlement fire regimes have been documented, there is little information on the ecology of the presettlement lower Coastal Plain forests of the southeastern United States. We used 12 637 witness trees, which were recorded by General Land Office surveyors between 1820 and 1846, to id...
متن کاملDevelopment of customized fire behavior fuel models for boreal forests of northeastern China.
Knowledge of forest fuels and their potential fire behavior across a landscape is essential in fire management. Four customized fire behavior fuel models that differed significantly in fuels characteristics and environmental conditions were identified using hierarchical cluster analysis based on fuels data collected across a boreal forest landscape in northeastern China. Fuel model I represente...
متن کاملResponses of Herbaceous Species to Fire in Persian Oak (Quercus brantii) in Coppice Forests
Zagros forests are one of the important natural ecosystems in Iran with high plant diversity and variety of plant communities. In recent decades, fire events have frequently occurred in some of these ecosystems. The purpose of this research is to investigate the composition and diversity of herbaceous species after nine years of fire occurrence in the forests of Zagros in western Iran. For this...
متن کاملForest Fire Spread and Suppression in DEVS
In this paper we discuss modeling and simulation of forest fire spread and suppression using the discrete-event specification (DEVS) cellspace approach in DEVSJAVA. Our event-based modeling approach enables efficient simulation of cell space and allows us to obtain timely simulation-based predictions of forest fire spread and suppression in uniform and non-uniform environmental conditions. Our ...
